Hot 97 Who’s Next showcase had a lot of stars in the building at the Sounds Of Brazil venue in NYC. From Lord Jamar , all the way to Phresher doing a surprise performance! Hosted by the radio station’s personality Shani Kulture and DJ Drewski, the Hot97 family started the party way before any of the artist took the stage . DJ Juanyto and DJ Kastone, blessed the venue turning the crowd up completely.

In the audience itself the layers of generations could be felt through the music. You had the youngins’ that partied like rockstars in the crowd , chanting “B-R-O-O-K-L-Y-N” as Young Ma’s verse on “Don’t Run” remix rang through the venue. There were also the old heads that walked around with drinks, enjoying the show. And last you had the true hip-hop heads that were serious, watching and listening to every verse.

Who’s Next featured many rising stars including Matt Citron, a complete lyricist fresh out of the ATL; International Special, who brought the bag out, throwing cash and crazy energy all over the stage; and Aaron Cook$, swaggy from Syracuse sounding like New York City. . Good M.U.S.I.C. and Head-liner Cyphi the Prince came and rocked the stage opening up with his verse to Mr. Kanye West’s classic “So Appalled”, also blessing us with his hits including “Nu Africa”. The highlight of the night had to be the crowd participation and energy from Cyphi’s performance.

Artists can go on Hot97.com and submit their music if they believe they are the next best thing and if you guys want to know what’s hot in hip-hop, Who’s Next is every month at SOBS.
You never know who might pull up!
