Rubberband OG Shares New Project, “The Summer Dead”

Think It’s A Game Records signee Rubberband OG and his new mixtape The Summer Dead which features YFN LucciBig Yavo, and several other big names. After touring with Kodak Black last month, the Alabama artist is positioning himself as one of the south’s biggest acts.

Rubberband OG releases his first full project since the pandemic. The Montgomery, AL native is claiming his throne as the prizewinner for the summer season. Declaring his competition dead on arrival, the young rapper dishes out a 11-track forecast that is dynamic in sound and lyricism. With features from YFN Lucci and Big Yavo, the project is rooted in raw realities like “On A Mission” to go-getter introspections like “Up The Score.” With production credits from G1, BJ BeatzKasino, and Producer AGThe Summer Dead is the tale of an up-and-comer riding through his expedition of life and everything that comes with the price of success. Unabashed and laser focused, Rubberband’s album artwork depicts a parallel to Jay-Z’s Marcy Project’s backdrop, a man rising above his barriers of environment, lady woes, and naysayers but never too far from his roots.

Many of his records were inspired by his life struggles. He uses his music as a tool to relate to his audience and express himself. Heavily motivated by his late grandmother, Rubberband OG briefly tells us about his creative process:

“Once I hear a beat, I go with it. I like to listen to the beat first a few times then I begin to come up with the lyrics. All my music is real life stories, I use my life experiences to inspire my music. Anytime I am going through something I go to the studio and rap about it and let it all out. All my old videos I shot in front of my Grandmother’s house when I first started out, she was biggest inpsiration so I do this in honor of her.”

OG’s music collectively shows how diverse he is. Using his unique sound to mesh through traumatic narratives of heavy losses and the importance of enduring it all. As he continues to reach new pinnacles he is destined to be one of Alabama’s most dominant emcees.
