In 2025, Mike Crook, the rising West Coast producer behind hits for Blueface, Doja Cat, Coi Leray, YG, and Tyga, is preparing for a major musical shift with the release of his highly anticipated EDM project, Crash Landing. Known for his signature hip hop beats, Crook is now venturing into the world of electronic music, blending the raw energy of his past hits with pulsating dance beats.
The name Crash Landing isn’t just a catchy title—it holds deeper meaning for Crook. “I have a weird obsession with Aliens and Space, so it was just the perfect title for a project that has an alien and UFO on the cover,” he explains. The concept of “crashing” into a new genre fits perfectly with his goal of taking fans on a journey into unexplored musical territory.
Though the project is in the works, Crook’s plans are still evolving. “The release date is up in the air,” he says. “I wanted to drop a project randomly, but I’m going to release some singles first and just slowly build towards the project.”
Crook’s Crash Landing EP will feature remixes of his previous collaborations with top artists, as well as some brand-new material. Songs like his remix of Blueface’s “Baby,” Coi Leray’s “Blick Blick,” and the unreleased Tyga track from his upcoming album (with the EDM version dropping after Tyga’s release) are all part of the project. He’s also excited to showcase his remix of YG’s “In The Dark” and a fresh track called “Paradise,” featuring the incredibly talented Lourdiz.
“Lourdiz is someone I’ve known for six years, and her voice is one of the best I’ve ever heard,” Crook says. “She was just on Nicki Minaj’s album, and I’m really proud of how far she’s come. ‘Paradise’ is our own song, not a remix, and it’s one of my favorites.”
While Crash Landing marks Crook’s dive into EDM, he’s not leaving hip hop behind. “I still love working with hip hop artists, and I’ll always produce rap songs. But the EDM/Dance/Techno/House stuff is really just for my personal artist work,” he says. The move into EDM is about challenging himself creatively and having fun again—something he feels he’s been missing in the rap world after collaborating with nearly every artist he grew up listening to.
In terms of production help, Crook credits co-producers Extendo and Swish for their critical roles in shaping the sound of the project. “They’ve been helping me so much with transitions and vocal editing. Honestly, it wouldn’t sound the way it does without them.”
As Mike Crook moves further into the EDM scene, Crash Landing represents not only a fresh direction for the producer but also a bold statement about genre-blending and creativity. Whether you’re a fan of hip hop, EDM, or both, Crook’s upcoming project promises to deliver something unique and full of energy.
“I want to challenge myself, but also have fun,” Crook says. “2025 is the year I push my sound further than ever before.”
With Crash Landing set to drop soon, Mike Crook’s journey into EDM is only just beginning, and fans can expect a wild ride as he continues to break boundaries and redefine his sound.
