With his latest single “I.T.B” (In The Beginning), Ja.i is breaking barriers and captivating audiences with his unique fusion of genres. “For this release, man, I started with listening to different loops and sounds to kind of figure out what I wanted to create on that specific day,” Ja.i shares, giving us a glimpse into his creative process. “My son happened to be in the room with me, so it’s kind of hard to be structured in my approach while watching him.”
But despite the distractions, Ja.i’s passion for his craft shines through. “Once I found a good groove, I was looking to just jam out to see what came out of it,” he continues. “After a few different takes, I was then able to find a melody that I felt would be good to center my track around.” With his saxophone as his weapon of choice, Ja.i weaves a mesmerizing tapestry of sound, drawing listeners into his world with each note.
Reflecting on his favorite moment from the track, Ja.i’s enthusiasm is palpable. “Outside of my son talking baby talk, haha, it has to be the little movement I did at 2:33-2:34,” he enthuses. “Man, I felt it so much that you can hear me in the background singing with it if you listen closely.” It’s this attention to detail and genuine connection to his music that sets Ja.i apart in the industry.
As he delves deeper into the inspiration behind “I.T.B,” Ja.i’s reverence for his craft becomes evident. “Inspiration, mannnnn, God!” he declares. “Being able to just create is a gift from him for sure.” Drawing from personal experiences and family memories, Ja.i infuses his music with authenticity and soul, creating a rich tapestry of sound that resonates with listeners on a profound level.
Looking to the future, Ja.i’s ambitions know no bounds. “In the future, my plan is to continue creating instrumentals, vocal tracks, producing, albums, songwriting… finding placements in different artistic ways,” he reveals. “But honestly, I want my music and my music career to be useful with purpose, providing good music to whoever listens.”
