Today here at Hip Hop Dose, we were able to catch up with Ricardo P. He recently just released a new record with producer/artist Eric Bellinger titled “Throwback”.
He talked a little bit about his artistry and what inspires him to do what he does. Let’s get started!
HHD: What is your stage name?
Ricardo P
HHD: Where are you from?
Houston, Texas.
HHD: What would you say the purpose of your music is?
Just different expressions and times that everyone can relate too, rather club, relationship, street life, positivity, etc.
HHD: Everybody’s got their own type of thing going on, what makes your music stand out?
Everyone sounds the same nowadays. I don’t sound like anyone… I make music that I vibe with or relate with. I know someone will like it.. it’s room for everyone in the industry.
HHD: How long have you been in the music industry?
I would say about 15 years, but taking it serious as a artist: the last 5 years.
HHD: Who or what was your inspiration to do what you do now?
I just love music, music controls my whole mood haha. When I was younger, definitely “LL Cool J” and “Ghetto Boys” is what made me want to rap.
HHD: What are some of your some of your milestones so far?
My biggest one is being able to do music with some of my favorite artists like: “Scarface” “Eric Bellinger” “Pimp C”. Rest In Peace to him as well.
HHD: Where do you see yourself in the future with your artistry?
Definitely not being a one hit wonder, just having a steady dedicated fanbase, and always being able to give them relatable music.
HHD: Out of all your songs, which one is your favorite and why?
Out of all the songs that I’ve released it would be my current single “Throwback” featuring Eric Bellinger. It’s definitely a nice vibe. I love R&B music.
HHD: How is your recording process like? What’s the ideal vibe?
I like a nice mellow vibe, not to many people in the studio.
HHD: What is your dream collaboration?
Jay-z would be insane!
