“I took risks every month—not just in music, but in life. Even when things didn’t go my way, the progress I did make showed me it was all worth it” Ovi shares.
Bringing It Back To The Beginning
Raised in Newburgh, NY, Ovi’s upbringing wasn’t typical of most aspiring rappers. In a strict household where Hip-Hop was restricted, he found himself surrounded by gospel and Haitian Kompa. Musical foundations that quietly shaped his ear long before he ever wrote a bar. His introduction to rap came through his older brother’s stereo. Where legends like Jay-Z broke open a world he wasn’t allowed to explore. Hearing “H to the O.V”. for the first time awakened something in him.
“That’s when I started sneaking into my brother’s room and freestyling on his instrumentals. I knew I had to find my own sound” Ovi says.
That sound has now crystallized into a sharp blend of melodic finesse, raw storytelling, and hypnotic rhythm. Additionally, the EP’s production showcases an impressive roster of rising beatmakers—Avo.MC, Cloud, DB!, Chiveer, Ankorbeats, and standout producer Marni, whose atmospheric, textured sound Ovi calls his favorite. Guest features Keen Streetz on “Hardknocks” and Wavesongianni on “Body” elevate the project even further, adding contrast and collaborative depth.
Overall, with this release, Ovi is documenting a mindset. High Risk High Reward inspires ambition, movement, and self-belief for fans across the board, from loyal supporters to new listeners discovering him for the first time. Nonetheless, as momentum builds, Ovi’s next mission is clear of expansion, collaboration, and bringing his story to the stage. “This is only the beginning, I’m excited for what’s coming” he says.
