NYC Radio Personality Angela Yee Receives The Distinguished Achievement Award From Poly Prep

Angela Yee, the award-winning media personality, and a fixture on New York radio, received Poly Prep’s Alumni Association Distinguished Achievement award at Poly’s Reunion Day, on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Yee who graduated from the school in 1993 is recognized for her inspirational qualities to lead, succeed, and serve the community.



Just this year, Yee recently took the giant leap launching her own nationally syndicated radio shows on iHeartMedia known as “Way Up with Angela Yee,” as well as her highly rated relationship and sex podcast “Lip Service” The new radio endeavor began an exciting recent career move since her 12-year run as co-host on Power 105.1’s wildly popular morning show, “The Breakfast Club,” inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2020. 

Outside of media, Angela is a serial entrepreneur passionate about building businesses that give back to the community. She owns the Juices For Life juice bar in Brooklyn, created Drink Fresh Juice, organic pressed juices distributed in grocers across the country, and co-founded Coffee Uplifts People (CUP), a majority Black-owned coffee company with a brick-and-mortar location in Brooklyn. Furthermore, she continues to expand her real estate portfolio with multiple properties in New York City, Upstate New York, and Detroit.

The Alumni Association Distinguished Achievement Awards are presented by the Alumni Board of Governors each year during a ceremony on Reunion Day to alums who embody the inspirational qualities to lead, succeed, and serve their community.

Since 1983, the Poly Prep Alumni Association has presented the Distinguished Achievement Award to graduates who have significantly distinguished themselves either in their career or in service to their community. Eligibility for consideration begins after the twenty-fifth year of graduation from Poly.

In 2018, the New York City mayor officially designated August 28th as Angela Yee Day, now an annual community event in Brooklyn spotlighting local Black-owned businesses and Black and Caribbean music artists. Additionally, Yee is on a mission to improve financial literacy through her Wealth Wednesday’s platform and her partnership with StellarFi, a public benefit corporation that provides underrepresented communities with access to credit. With her finger on the pulse of hip-hop, culture, business, and community, Angela Yee is a multi-hyphenate in every sense.
