BG Major’s Different Bag has been on fire since it dropped this summer. The high-energy single is making it’s way into clubs and DJ rotations all over the midwest. The visual for the single directed and edited by the talented King Art gives a cinematic and interesting take. The video captures BG Major making his way through abandon building in hopes of banishing an evil spirit. Since the video’s release earlier in June, it has already reached 3.5k views on YouTube and over 4k streams via Spotify.
BG Major represents the Roger Park neighborhood on Chicago’s north side. As a child he’s always been passionate about music. Heavily influenced by Lil Wane and Chief Keef he began writing lyrics reflecting his own life. At the young age of 14 he was exposed to street life, eventually dealing with drugs and gun violence. After some run ins with the law he felt something needed to change.
For that reason he decided to leave the street life for good. It wasn’t until he saw his Uncle performing on TV that he started his own musical journey. Almost instantly, BG Major began recording his own music and paying for studio time out of his own pocket. At first he was very hesitant but eventually he felt comfortable finding his sound.
In 2019 he released his first official single In My Head, showing off his fresh take on hip-hop. He followed up with more singles, reaching music lovers everywhere with his raw appeal. As his buzz kept growing, BG Major gained the love and support from his city and all of Chicago in such a short time. He’s been featured on The Chicago Wave, SayCheeseTV and From The Block so far this year.
As he prepares for the release of a new project set to come out later this year, his single “Different Bag” comes as an opener for what BG Major has in store. This summer he’s appearing all over Chicagoland performing from the Westside to the Southside with his relatable and real vibe. Combining the rawness of drill music and smoothness of hip-hop BG Major’s approach to music is open, exploring all avenues that appeal to him.
