Residente Releases First Solo Album
Announces World Premiere of New Music Video
Friday, March 31
(San Juan, Puerto Rico – March 31, 2017) –René Pérez Joglar, (also known as Residente), today announced the release of his first solo album “Residente”, alongside the world premiere of the music video of his first single Desencuentro, starring French-Canadian actress Charlotte Le Bon (THE WALK, THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY) and Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramírez (CARLOS, HANDS OF STONE). Watch it here.
The album will be available across main music-streaming platforms & digital music libraries. The Spanish noun, and single title, Desencuentro loosely translates to: disagreement, a misunderstanding, a failed meeting and/or a lack of coordination.
The Desencuentro music video was directed by Pérez Joglar, marking his second self-directed music video after “Somos Anormales” premiered earlier this year. The Desencuentro music video was filmed at the iconic Crémerie-Restaurant Polidor in Paris, France, which has maintained its original decoration since it first opened in 1845. The music video was produced by ICONOCLAST (France) and La Tara Productions (Puerto Rico). Speaking about the video, Residente said “the environment surrounding the music video was fundamental to its development. I started with a great song that inspired many visual ideas and creative directions. I tried to avoid clichés while staying true to the hope that motivates and pushes us in the face of Desencuentro. ” Describing the music video’s plot, he said: “The ending will probably surprise some with its Desencuentro… Life is full of waiting.”
Speaking on the music video’s set location, Pérez Joglar said “I felt a strong connection to France, to Paris. I think my fans already know how impulsive I can be… According to a DNA test I took, I have blood from France. But I also chose France as a location for this video because it is the country of love yet there’s a profound Desencuentro between that rosy image and the victims of so many bloody attacks in recent memory”
In December, 2016, Residente launched his official website residente.com, an interactive space with a conceptual artistic vision. The website serves as a digital home for the entire Residente project, which includes an eponymous album and documentary, a series of music videos and video content, a book, and much more.
